These light purple iris flowers are a tribute to my Mother’s passion of gardening. She had deciphered the secret of getting irises to bloom in Lucknow despite the scorching summers. Though they come in an array of rainbow colours, lavender was her favourite. The beautiful showy flowers, the soft elegant petals, the intriguing shape and the iconic shades of purple, all added up to make it a floral favourite. The unique beauty invoked a sense of regality and enchantment which touched the soul. Following my own failed attempts of getting them to open up in the soil I chose to capture them on my canvas hoping that they will add the same touch of magic wherever they go.
