The Paradox of Love

Midnight Sun

Acrylic on canvas

Size : 3′ by 2′

This one is straight from the heart. It is the early dawn of my daughter’s wedding day in Bolgatty Palace in Kerala. The sun was yet to-peep but I was out with my bitter sweet emotions. I wondered how fast time had flown. It seemed just yesterday I proudly held my miracle, counted her little fingers and toes, followed by the first footsteps and then the first day at school. Then came the sports trophies , the disappointments, the achievements, the career and now this beautiful milestone. This work is truly  ‘A Paradox of love’ because while I was genuinely thrilled for the soon- to- be newly weds there was a quiet ache in knowing that back home it will be a little emptier. The mind and heart were at war with each other. The heart wanted to hold back but the mind knew it was time for a new beginning.

The landscape here is a personal remembrance – a reflection on the enduring beauty of witnessing someone you cherish embark on a new journey
